Inner Work, Outer Impact
A Workshop
For our next workshop we want to offer education around healing—what it is, how it works, and why pursuing it is an important aspect of allyship. In Mormonism, healing is something bestowed, miraculous, and super human. Oftentimes, religious leaders will pay lip service to healing, while actively undermining the conditions that would foster it.
Spiritual rhetoric outside of Mormonism can generate confusion around this subject too. Despite the proliferation of poorly applied Rumi quotes online, healing is real, and it is inherently human. Change is possible.
Inner Work, Outer Impact is the online training we are offering at the end of the month. This training is for settlers who want to support Indigenous communities, including but not limited to the Timpanogos. In this workshop, we’ll explore personal development work—why it is crucial if we are to be truly supportive to native peoples and causes.
We’ll learn about what transformation is and how it works away from salvific, religious frameworks. Participants will practice building capacity around safety, meeting needs, and caring for the self as foundational skills for the relational work of allyship. This workshop will be facilitated by presenters from Acknowledge.
This class will be free to attend, but donations will be invited afterwards. Our plan to send a representative of the Timpanogos Nation to a training on cultural healing has been postponed, so instead, proceeds will be split between the tribe's non-profit and the Acknowledge organization.
If you’re new to this conversation, or if you’d like to sharpen your skills, please apply! Inner Work, Outer Impact will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 6:30 pm MST. If you’d like to join us, please fill out this Google Form and we’ll get back to you.
Warmly,
Anna + Hester
